The next time you label a loved one selfish and self-centered try to look at it this way.
Fear is at the center of it. The fear that there isn't enough of anything to go around. The fear that someone is going to hurt you. The fear of punishment. The fear of no punishment (mainly for the other guy). The fear that no one loves you. The fear that you are just unlovable. The fear that YOU don't even love you. The fear of humiliation. The fear of degradation. The fear of dependence. The fear of independence. The fear of codependence. The fear of nothingness. The fear that God's not real. The fear that YOU'RE not real. The fear that Love does not really exist.
Welcome to humanity! Enter Messiah! Welcome to Eternity.

Riding High
Feels good to start to blog again. It means i might actually have something meaningful to say. Better to be silent and thought a fool, than speak and remove all doubt. Hahahahahahah. What a great saying. I've done more than my share of speaking out foolishly.
I know only one thing, Christ. Sounds corny i guess, but it is true. Everything else is chasing after the wind, which is only good for flying a kite.
I've flown many a kite in my day. Lots of fun but with Christ, i get to be the kite.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Hello
It's been awhile.
Here's the thing. Just for you Tom. As per our discussion, i'm sure the donkey actually spoke to Balaam.
One needs only to tune in to the politicians of our day. Most certainly DONKEYS can speak.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! I think that's pretty funny.
Okay, it's not that funny.
God is Good. (and most certainly has a sense of humor)

"Recalculating"
Today is a great day. I feel like "i'm back" !!!
I have been feeling as though i were in retreat for awhile. Sometimes, like all of us, i wrestle with self-doubt, usually after something or someone, most often unknowingly, calls my opinions or actions into question. Enough of that!!!!
It is a subtle thing. I do not assign blame to anyone but myself. It is just the way of "the world" to indulge self-doubt. We are not really doubting ourselves, we are doubting God. Is He almighty, omnipotent, loving, all-knowing, etc, or not? To enjoy life is good, God simply says do not become enslaved to it. Be grateful. He is directing your footsteps. Believe it.
An interesting analogy. When Dave and i take a trip somewhere, we sometimes create our own shortcuts. The GPS will promptly redirect with, "Recalculating" and set us back on course. Let God be your GPS. Rest in Him! We need to take the time to figure out what that means. (self-talk lol).

Such an Awesome God
Hello again.
Boy i need to start blogging more often.
Hey tom, i got your comment on my previous blog. Yeah, i miss you too.
I am absolutely sure the day will come when we will be living in closer proximity.
The rest of my friends and family, howdy doody to you all too.
Nothing new going on here. Just happy as a bug in a rug growing in grace and gratitude. The more i recognize how big God is, the less i take myself so seriously. Whew! What a relief that is!
Growing up is much more fulfilling than simply growing old.
I love you all
P.S.How do you spell relief? lol

Free Will
Bill, what a great conversation. How God's character sooooooooooooo surpasses anything that man could ever hope to achieve, demonstrated by the Cross of Christ.
While we were still sinners He died for us.
(Acts 17:30) Paul says:
"Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now He commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has fixed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by a Man whom He has appointed, and of this He has given assurance to all men by raising Him from the dead."
God is merciful and lovng. He is not merely a Lawgiver, unsympathetic to our condition, ruthlessly demanding obedience and subjugation. We are in truth His offspring. He has extended the invitation at the foot of the Cross. Choose wisely.
Life or Death !!

Who I Am
Hi everyone !
Another sharing moment.
My friend Bill and I were talking about a common theme in both our lives. We agreed we both are caregivers and have been for years. We both are at an age where we are reassessing all of it.
If you've lived long enough, you've asked yourself. Why me? How come i'm always the guy (girl) that this task falls upon? Is it worth it? Am i just spinning my wheels, enabling other people? I've had it. I'm tired of it. Let someone else do it.
Whew!! Sounds pretty glum and exhausting huh? Well, like i say, if you don't get this, you haven't lived much of life.
Okay, now for the good news. I've been through my moments of bitterness, frustration, and even anger over my "caregiver" status. Through it all, though, i've discovered a few marvelous things.
"Caregiver" or "enabler"? It's kinda like the difference between Mother Teresa and Dr. Kevorkian. Choose Life.
Yes, a stark contrast. But it gets our attention. The first represents true compassion. I believe the other grows out of pity.
Pity invites all of us to its party and leads to despair. Accept the invitation, you're hooked. True compassion, on the other hand, refuses to join the party. It offers you a ride home.
Christ says let your yes be yes and your no be no. Say yes to compassion and a resounding NO to pity. Free will is a wonderful gift. Choose wisely.

Caution, Sharp Curves Ahead
A new day. Every one of them is precious. Even a bad day can have a bright moment. Maybe on that day, you're it. So find a Bright Spot in you.
He's there somewhere even on bad days. When you think you're really wacked out, you're not. God is just changing gears 'cause maybe there's a dangerous curve ahead. Slow down.
God is good.

Politics, Yuck
hey there,
to my friend Bill, what a great conversation again. Always enlightening and entertaining.
My friend Bill and I covered religion, business and politics. Okay, so bottom line it's all pretty much politics. Life is filled with politics but the message of Christ is that politics is not Life. God says be innocent as a dove and wise as a serpent. Let's just not walk through life with our heads stuck in the sand.
In this lifetime there will never be lasting peace and think not that life is fair. IT IS NOT!
But politics isn't all bad. It can play a role in keeping the peace.(To the degree that it is possible here) Christ says, render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's.(paraphrase) Christ recognizes politics as a legitimate part of our existence. We just manage to corrupt everything we get our hands on.
I hate politics as much as the next guy, but it's probably the corruptive factor that turns our stomachs. It seems we are always choosing between the lesser of two evils.
I hate when that happens.
God is Good.

"It's Friday but Sunday's Coming"
Hi friends and family,
I've been thinking about "trial by fire". Bummer. There are just times when there is no way out of a situation. Can't build a bridge, can't dig a tunnel,(just deepens the hole you're in),can't fly overhead, can't go around. We just can't bluff our way through. The only way to the other side is straight through it. Ouch!! The "how to" is the real question.
It is amazing yet typical for us to try all of the above before we come to terms with "navigating through". Often by that time, we have created more chaos and even greater obstacles. Navigation through the mess seems even more impossible.
Have you asked yourself; "Do I really want to get to the other side"? Not really, just want things to go back to the way they were. (Good luck with that)
I think that one of the most valuable life lessons has been to decide first of all to face trials head on. Secondly to look forward with anticipation (rather than dread). (that means i'm going to change too) It takes courage! Courage comes from a faith set in Example. A Perfect Example. We're given a Vision.
"It's Friday, but Sunday's coming". This expression refers to the Friday before Easter Sunday. The dark days of Christ's trial and scourging (I hate that part), followed by His Resurrection. What an Example of Love. With Love, there's always a plan.
Is it Friday? Sunday's coming !!!
God is Good.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
I have so many things to say, but lately i'm having trouble putting it out there. That's usually not like me.
This "season" of my life is an awesome time. Even on the "not so good" days, it's a terrific time. I feel i've come full circle. I suppose i'm still trying to define what that means. I've been processing so many life experiences this last year or two. I've always been thoughtful about such things. Looking and learning, wanting to understand, but never from this vantage point.
The scripture comes to mind:
"All things work together for good, for those who love God and are called according to His purpose". It is meaningful to observe that He doesn't say that all GOOD things come together .... There's the good, the bad and the ugly. It's a mystery for sure. Each one of those things is part of the tapestry we call life.
Some days I really see the Beauty of it all. Our lives woven into a beautiful thing. But some days not so much. Especially when it feels like it's all hanging by a thread. Hahahahah. Get it? Thread, tapestry? hahahahahahahaha! Sorry, i digress.
But here i am. Happy, at peace with my Creator, myself, and (my fellow man, as much as is possible).
God is Good!

Hawaiian Princess
To all my friends out there. Aaaaalooooha.
As i get older, my life becomes a journey back to my roots. I remember the little hawaiian girl romping on the beaches of the islands, soaking up the sun, strumming her ukelele, surfing the waves, picking mangos, and all manner of tropical fruit and enjoying all the wonderful things that come with living on an island paradise. Wow. My memories of "home" really hit me sometimes in waves of nostalgia. How amazing, that in the middle of all that family dysfunction, the beauty and awe of some of God's greatest handywork did not go unappreciated or unnoticed by this little hawaiian princess. Thank you Lord.

Ho Hum
Nothing earth shattering going on today.
The most exciting thing so far is that i took Max for a walk and he didn't bite anybody. Hurray !!! Nah, he's really doing very well. What a little stinker he is.
He's a great little dog. Getting much better on our walks. No pulling and pays close attention to his handler, lil' ole me. (He'd do anything for cheese lol)
see ya

"And yea, though i walk through the valley ..." Ps.23
Well, as a general rule, i try to keep my comments leaning to the cheerful side.
Today is a difficult day for me. My awareness of the presence of evil in this world becomes so sharp and clear at times. It weighs heavily on this puny little heart of mine. I do not say that i feel hopelessly defeated or any such thing. I do become discouraged though, and sometimes brokenhearted knowing that the terrible abuses that occur all around us, go mostly unnoticed and unchecked. Of course my sensitivity to such things was birthed in my own childhood. My past resolved and memories have faded but it has left in its stead, a keen awareness.
I have a pretty wonderful life. My husband and I have been married for 22 years and very happily so. My children and grandchildren are happy and well. We are all in pretty good health. Life is good!!!
So what's the problem? Am I my brother's keeper? Am i able to help in anyway stop the insanity that i know many families endure. These abuses are not exclusive to the "unchurched". (Offensive stereotype, in my view. Why do we do that? We have labels for everyone) Stop already!
"The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His names sake.
And yea, though i walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, i will fear no evil
for You are with me;...."

Stinky Feet
All of us have many questions about religion and some bad memories regarding our religious upbringing. Lots of people just know they don't want to have anything to do with it. I can relate. My struggle with religion has gone on for many years.
A good friend of mine once told me that I should not throw the Baby out with the bath water. Well, that has helped me through those periods when I wanted to walk away from my faith or perhaps simply walk away from church. I still attend church but with a more balanced perspective which does not tempt me to toss the Baby.
We tend to describe religion as "organized". Funny, it's in the process of "organizing" that we lose our way. Jesus has become big business these days and even touts political endorsements. What's wrong with us????!!!!!
I'm sure before He returns, He will notify TMZ, CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc. in order to insure full coverage of the upcoming event.
But that is not how the Bible defines religion. James 1:26-27 reads: "If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. 27: Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." I need to mind my own business and allow God to draw others to Christ in whom my life is hidden. If the Gospel of Christ and His resurrection offends someone, Redemption begins Its work. Legalism has no redemptive power. If it were so, Christ would have died unnecessarily.
I pray not to judge anyone's heart. God keeps me quite busy as Christ washes my own stinky feet. But we're not to bury our heads in the sand. We are to test the spirits.
What do you think?
God is Good.

The Dragon Slayer
To my friends
Well, what a great morning again. Had coffee with an old friend. Not that he's got a lot of years on him, of course, just that i've known him a long time. Hahahahah.
He knows who he is.
As usual we were talking about spiritual matters and i was noting that as i grow up, (as opposed to growing older)hmm. Okay, so i'm growing older too. Anyhow, i stated to my friend that loving people is hard. But then i realized that looking at other people through my own prejudices makes loving them hard. But when God pushes aside my prejudices and slays them (my dragons), I can see people through His eyes, and it is not difficult at all. It is quite lovely and sweet; granted sometimes it is bitter sweet when we see those we love going through unnecessary pain, but i find myself willing and able to come along side them with a nonjudgmental and loving Spirit. Amen. hahahahaahah. Really, it's a great way to go.
Often the tentacles of my long-standing prejudices have been deep and far reaching. It's different for all of us i think, but only in degrees. We all have these dragons. But, alas! In steps the Dragon Slayer !! YaaaaaHoooooo! God is Good
Later everyone.
My friend, thank you for a great morning.

The Call to Cook ( Who Me?!)
Hello to my fans. All two of you. hahahahahah
Maybe three?
My dear husband and I started our "Biggest Loser Diet" today. Lots of work initially but i know it will get easier.
Those of you who know me best need to sit down. A couple of nights ago I attended a "cooking" class. No!!, pigs have not started to fly!!! Hee.
What can i say? See, God does change people. Miracle upon miracle. Hahahahahahahahaha.
It was a great class. It was not hands-on but the chef/nutritionist who gave the class is Cheryl Folgert. She is the nutritionist on "The Biggest Loser" program. Soooo interesting to get the inside scoop. She, along with her little helpers, prepared several yummy dishes that of course the class indulged in, along with some white/red wine. (I prefer red)
Great night. I bought one of her books that provides six weeks of healthy, balanced meals. No brainer. Just read the recipe. hoorah. Most of us who reeeeaaaaaally hate to cook, can't get past the "what am i going to cook for dinner?" question. Frustration, frustration. At least this takes it out of the mix.
I used to look at diets (oh, excuse me, not a diet, but a new lifestyle)and pick it apart because it had a little o' this or a little o' that not to my liking or "too hard", too inconvenient, too "something" and before i knew it, there was nothin' left. I always managed to wiggle out of it. Well, this time, i don't know what's up, but i guess i'm just ready to surrender to the ,"whatever you say" mode, just to get it done.
I'm impressed with the results this program, "The Biggest Loser", has gotten over the past several seasons. I'm confident that following this "new life style" eating will work. I used to think that maybe i didn't believe in myself, but now i realize i just never believed in the process. (Maybe a little stubborn too. WHO ME ?!!).
That's it for now.
Hope this is okay. Unedited

Unedited

The Agenda (God's not finished)
It's been a few days. Nothing exciting happening. I become more depressed as i listen to the political events of the day. Blah, blah, blah. Same ole, same ole, from either side of the aisle.
But, alas, there is a God, and He will see to it that His agenda will prevail. Through troubled waters and all our BS, God still has a plan.
My personal opinion matters little but nevertheless, since it's my blog, i shall indulge myself.
The fact remains that the government has reached its tentacles far beyond its constitutional authority. Let's see ? 51% ownership in General Motors; A new law that obstructs all US banks from issuing any student loans, except for ONE bank in North Dakota. Hmm. I wonder what they got for that? Health insurance that the government will peel away from any other provider until finally their goal is achieved. One-payer system; THEMSELVES. Government and more government. Hello, people. Do you not believe that this administration is grabbing after more and more power? They have no business sticking their nose in the private sector. AIG and other corporations subject to the pay czar? Hello. Private business is no longer private. I hate the fact that CEOs make so much money. It's absurd, but the threat of government take-over is too high a price to pay. You are fooling yourself if you really believe that these extreme left-wing radical political gurus have our best interest in mind.
Do you believe that whatever monies are collected for healthcare reform, whose benefits don't begin 'til 2014, is going into a "lockbox". Hahahahahhahahahah.
These bums will use it for their own pet projects before the benefits ever take effect. They will use it as their own personal slush fund. In 2014, new taxes will be needed to pay for this entitlement program yet again. These tactics are disgusting. Yes, Obama delivered on his promise of transparency. The corruption is quite transparent and they are not ashamed.
The time will come when the honest and good-hearted Liberals; the people, not the politicians, will say .... "WHAT WERE WE THINKING".
But be of good cheer. It's not over until it's over.
God still has a plan.

Reality Check
Hello.
well, today i have a more serious topic to discuss. I have several friends and family members who are going through a difficult time.
My sister for one is dealing with a brain tumor that has returned after five years.
A couple of weeks ago, she suffered a seizure, which is not uncommon after having the craniatomy that she had a few years back. Well, they discovered that the tumor they had removed before, (about the size of a lemon) has started growing back. It is much smaller than before but needs attention. She's definitely afraid and a little depressed along with her daughters, who feel so helpless.
Well, the good news is that a relatively new procedure is being considered, called cyberknife. Much less intrusive. So we are grateful, but nevertheless, her daughters are kind of depressed. You think? Facing reality isn't always easy but none of us have to face it alone. Thank you God for family and friends.
Today, a friend of mine called because she was feeling down. Over the years, there have been many times that achieving my goals have resulted in disappointment. Like, "Is that all there is? I think most of us who have lived past five years old (just kidding, i was at least six. Ha)have faced this kind of disappointment.
It reminds me of Ecclesiastes. The wisdom that comes with age puts life in perspective. In Ecc. 2:11, Solomon writes: "Yet when i surveyed all that my hands had done and what i had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun." Solomon is depressed. (I can relate) In Ecc. 12:1 he writes "Remember your Creator in your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, 'I find no pleasure in them'
But it all ends on a high note. In conclusion, Solomon realizes that life is meaningless without God. Thankfully, He has made Himself available through the Cross of Christ.
I must say that i find a lot of comfort in these times knowing that God is not asleep at the wheel. I lean on Him and those who love me, and I experience His Grace, and i am not afraid.
God is Good.

Max and Me (arf, arf)
Goodmorning everyone.
Say, do any of you have a dog? We have a great little dog named Max. What a cool dog. He, unfortunately, is not so people friendly and definitely not dog friendly (or any other little critter-friendly,either) but i have been working with him a long time.
I gave up about eight months ago 'cause it was too difficult walking with him. I tried all the technigues, read all the books, watched pretty near every Caesar Milan episode, and just couldn't get it all together. So, i haven't been doing much for awhile. But "voila". Enter "Unleashed Unlimited". It's a little pricey, but it's been worth it. Reluctantly, i surrendered to the use of (dare I say it) an electronic collar. What can i say, Max is a hard case. A wonderful dog. Very alert, smart and loving but he don't like no "outsiders" you know.
Well i'm back in the saddle again. We are having a great time. The collar doesn't seem to bother him very much and it is very gentle. This is not a "you're gonna get punished" kind of thing. We use it in an entirely different way. Let me explain. For instance, if you were sitting in a restaurant and somebody came up behind you and tapped you on the shoulder, what would you do? Well, of course, you would turn around, right. Well this is used in the same way. It's just a tap on the shoulder to my little max to get him to pay attention. I have felt the electronic charge on my own person and it is very, very, mild. He is responding extremely well.
I am now able to walk with him again, without him trying to pull me down the street and attack any little critter that comes along. Did i tell you that he is a Jack Russell Terrier ( or is that terrorist) lol.
comments appreciated.

buses
After awhile, i saved enough money to fix the VW bus/camper that i had and things got a little better after that. I still had to drive the kids a long distance to school but it wasn't near as long as taking the bus. The name of the restaurant that i was working at was Sambos. Back then the political correctness trend was just beginning and the powers that be put Sambos Restaurants out of business because they were offended by the "racial reference". Who knew?
One really fun thing i remember was taking the kids to A&W Root beer fast food place. Do you remember those? Oh, well, maybe not. What a great time for me and the kids. This was in San Jose, California and the restaurant had a big screen in the parking lot where they would show movies like the 3 stooges or cartoons FOR FREE. (WOW) I would park the VW bus, set up the little table inside the bus, buy a couple of burgers and two childs rootbeer mugs for each of the boys. It was a great time. You don't need a lot of money to have a good time.

riding the bus
My friend was telling me about her little boy who is only five. He goes to kindergarten and boy do they have a serious schedule. Not only do they attend school from 7:30 to 2:00, they have lots and lots of homework. Not necessarily a bad thing but it reminded me of a story of my own.
When my kids were in pre-school, i was already a single mom, working at a restaurant in walking distance from my house. At this venture in my life, i had to get on welfare to make ends meet. The kids went to a pre-school that would accept the government provision so i was forced to take them to a school that was very far away.
I used to wake up at 5:00 am, get the kids dressed, get myself dressed and catch a bus to take the kids to school. My job was in walking distance from my house but it took us one hour from home to get the kids to school. I would drop them off, get back on the bus and ride another one hour back to work that was only five minutes away from home. Then after work i would get on that bus, travel for one hour to pick my kids up, get back on the bus for another hour to get home.
So i spent four hours on a bus just to get my kids to this school. There were schools closer to my house but they did not accept the welfare yada yada stuff.
One day coming home from the school, the kids and i got off at a transfer point downtown. While we were waiting for the bus, I heard a rattling noise, metal hitting metal. When i turned around, this homeless guy was breaking into the newspaper stand. He took the money and walked away. Nobody did anything. Rough part of town. I wasn't about to jeopardize the safety of my kids to try to stop this guy over a few quarters. Those years were difficult and kind of scary all the way around.

daddy, where are you?
I just had an interesting question from my husband, who just read my blog. He asked me, "Well, what happened? Didn't your dad, like, come and fix your bike?"
Hmm. So interesting. I had never even thought about it. But, no. I guess he was at work. I don't remember even bringing it to anyone's attention. Probably for the best. No doubt it would have been my fault. You know, clueless and all, i guess" that's what you get". After all, at six years old, i should have known better, right? (so sad)

1st entry
Had a great breakfast with a new friend. Ahhh, so refreshing. What a great chat. You know who you are.
"Clueless to Clarity" is how i would describe, in five words or less, life. Hold on. It's quite a ride.
Gee, my first recollection of how rotten "big brothers" can be was at an early age. Let's see. I was maybe six years old. My brother was about 8. He had a knack for "negotiating" the "clueless at heart" (me) to do the dumbest things.
We both had tricycles that we absolutely loved to ride. Well, one day his bike broke. I don't remember exactly what the deal was with his bike, but something was wrong with his front wheel that made it unridable (is that a word?). Anyway, he convinced me (clueless) to let him take the front wheel off my bike so he could put it on his bike. (He assured me that if it didn't fit, he would simply reassemble my bike.) Hahahahahahahahah. Are you kidding me? Apparently I agreed to it. (Sooooo needy !!!) .
So be it. There it was. My beautiful little bike. Stranded, limping on two backwheels, totally unusable. But, I could take satisfaction that my brother's bike would now become functional and that's all that was important. (Right?) hahahahaha. What's wrong with me !!!!!!!!!!!
Hmm, look at that. Hello ! My front wheel was about three sizes too small. Bummer. So being as my wheel wouldn't fit on his bike, he could just put it back onto my little tricycle, right? WRONG !!!! What a little turd he was. (Disappointment at an early age, haha)
So there you have it. A sad, cute, sweet, most special little princess ( me of course) bullied and manipulated by big bad brother, who seemed to take some kind of satisfaction that now I didn't have a functional bike either. What a little rat was he.
Stay tuned. More to come.
