The Call to Cook ( Who Me?!)

Hello to my fans. All two of you. hahahahahah

Maybe three?

My dear husband and I started our "Biggest Loser Diet" today. Lots of work initially but i know it will get easier.

Those of you who know me best need to sit down. A couple of nights ago I attended a "cooking" class. No!!, pigs have not started to fly!!! Hee.

What can i say? See, God does change people. Miracle upon miracle. Hahahahahahahahaha.

It was a great class. It was not hands-on but the chef/nutritionist who gave the class is Cheryl Folgert. She is the nutritionist on "The Biggest Loser" program. Soooo interesting to get the inside scoop. She, along with her little helpers, prepared several yummy dishes that of course the class indulged in, along with some white/red wine. (I prefer red)

Great night. I bought one of her books that provides six weeks of healthy, balanced meals. No brainer. Just read the recipe. hoorah. Most of us who reeeeaaaaaally hate to cook, can't get past the "what am i going to cook for dinner?" question. Frustration, frustration. At least this takes it out of the mix.

I used to look at diets (oh, excuse me, not a diet, but a new lifestyle)and pick it apart because it had a little o' this or a little o' that not to my liking or "too hard", too inconvenient, too "something" and before i knew it, there was nothin' left. I always managed to wiggle out of it. Well, this time, i don't know what's up, but i guess i'm just ready to surrender to the ,"whatever you say" mode, just to get it done.

I'm impressed with the results this program, "The Biggest Loser", has gotten over the past several seasons. I'm confident that following this "new life style" eating will work. I used to think that maybe i didn't believe in myself, but now i realize i just never believed in the process. (Maybe a little stubborn too. WHO ME ?!!).

That's it for now.

Hope this is okay. Unedited

The Agenda (God's not finished)

It's been a few days. Nothing exciting happening. I become more depressed as i listen to the political events of the day. Blah, blah, blah. Same ole, same ole, from either side of the aisle.

But, alas, there is a God, and He will see to it that His agenda will prevail. Through troubled waters and all our BS, God still has a plan.

My personal opinion matters little but nevertheless, since it's my blog, i shall indulge myself.

The fact remains that the government has reached its tentacles far beyond its constitutional authority. Let's see ? 51% ownership in General Motors; A new law that obstructs all US banks from issuing any student loans, except for ONE bank in North Dakota. Hmm. I wonder what they got for that? Health insurance that the government will peel away from any other provider until finally their goal is achieved. One-payer system; THEMSELVES. Government and more government. Hello, people. Do you not believe that this administration is grabbing after more and more power? They have no business sticking their nose in the private sector. AIG and other corporations subject to the pay czar? Hello. Private business is no longer private. I hate the fact that CEOs make so much money. It's absurd, but the threat of government take-over is too high a price to pay. You are fooling yourself if you really believe that these extreme left-wing radical political gurus have our best interest in mind.

Do you believe that whatever monies are collected for healthcare reform, whose benefits don't begin 'til 2014, is going into a "lockbox". Hahahahahhahahahah.
These bums will use it for their own pet projects before the benefits ever take effect. They will use it as their own personal slush fund. In 2014, new taxes will be needed to pay for this entitlement program yet again. These tactics are disgusting. Yes, Obama delivered on his promise of transparency. The corruption is quite transparent and they are not ashamed.

The time will come when the honest and good-hearted Liberals; the people, not the politicians, will say .... "WHAT WERE WE THINKING".

But be of good cheer. It's not over until it's over.

God still has a plan.

Reality Check

Hello.

well, today i have a more serious topic to discuss. I have several friends and family members who are going through a difficult time.

My sister for one is dealing with a brain tumor that has returned after five years.
A couple of weeks ago, she suffered a seizure, which is not uncommon after having the craniatomy that she had a few years back. Well, they discovered that the tumor they had removed before, (about the size of a lemon) has started growing back. It is much smaller than before but needs attention. She's definitely afraid and a little depressed along with her daughters, who feel so helpless.

Well, the good news is that a relatively new procedure is being considered, called cyberknife. Much less intrusive. So we are grateful, but nevertheless, her daughters are kind of depressed. You think? Facing reality isn't always easy but none of us have to face it alone. Thank you God for family and friends.

Today, a friend of mine called because she was feeling down. Over the years, there have been many times that achieving my goals have resulted in disappointment. Like, "Is that all there is? I think most of us who have lived past five years old (just kidding, i was at least six. Ha)have faced this kind of disappointment.

It reminds me of Ecclesiastes. The wisdom that comes with age puts life in perspective. In Ecc. 2:11, Solomon writes: "Yet when i surveyed all that my hands had done and what i had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun." Solomon is depressed. (I can relate) In Ecc. 12:1 he writes "Remember your Creator in your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, 'I find no pleasure in them'

But it all ends on a high note. In conclusion, Solomon realizes that life is meaningless without God. Thankfully, He has made Himself available through the Cross of Christ.

I must say that i find a lot of comfort in these times knowing that God is not asleep at the wheel. I lean on Him and those who love me, and I experience His Grace, and i am not afraid.

God is Good.

Max and Me (arf, arf)

Goodmorning everyone.

Say, do any of you have a dog? We have a great little dog named Max. What a cool dog. He, unfortunately, is not so people friendly and definitely not dog friendly (or any other little critter-friendly,either) but i have been working with him a long time.

I gave up about eight months ago 'cause it was too difficult walking with him. I tried all the technigues, read all the books, watched pretty near every Caesar Milan episode, and just couldn't get it all together. So, i haven't been doing much for awhile. But "voila". Enter "Unleashed Unlimited". It's a little pricey, but it's been worth it. Reluctantly, i surrendered to the use of (dare I say it) an electronic collar. What can i say, Max is a hard case. A wonderful dog. Very alert, smart and loving but he don't like no "outsiders" you know.

Well i'm back in the saddle again. We are having a great time. The collar doesn't seem to bother him very much and it is very gentle. This is not a "you're gonna get punished" kind of thing. We use it in an entirely different way. Let me explain. For instance, if you were sitting in a restaurant and somebody came up behind you and tapped you on the shoulder, what would you do? Well, of course, you would turn around, right. Well this is used in the same way. It's just a tap on the shoulder to my little max to get him to pay attention. I have felt the electronic charge on my own person and it is very, very, mild. He is responding extremely well.

I am now able to walk with him again, without him trying to pull me down the street and attack any little critter that comes along. Did i tell you that he is a Jack Russell Terrier ( or is that terrorist) lol.

comments appreciated.

buses

After awhile, i saved enough money to fix the VW bus/camper that i had and things got a little better after that. I still had to drive the kids a long distance to school but it wasn't near as long as taking the bus. The name of the restaurant that i was working at was Sambos. Back then the political correctness trend was just beginning and the powers that be put Sambos Restaurants out of business because they were offended by the "racial reference". Who knew?

One really fun thing i remember was taking the kids to A&W Root beer fast food place. Do you remember those? Oh, well, maybe not. What a great time for me and the kids. This was in San Jose, California and the restaurant had a big screen in the parking lot where they would show movies like the 3 stooges or cartoons FOR FREE. (WOW) I would park the VW bus, set up the little table inside the bus, buy a couple of burgers and two childs rootbeer mugs for each of the boys. It was a great time. You don't need a lot of money to have a good time.

riding the bus

My friend was telling me about her little boy who is only five. He goes to kindergarten and boy do they have a serious schedule. Not only do they attend school from 7:30 to 2:00, they have lots and lots of homework. Not necessarily a bad thing but it reminded me of a story of my own.

When my kids were in pre-school, i was already a single mom, working at a restaurant in walking distance from my house. At this venture in my life, i had to get on welfare to make ends meet. The kids went to a pre-school that would accept the government provision so i was forced to take them to a school that was very far away.

I used to wake up at 5:00 am, get the kids dressed, get myself dressed and catch a bus to take the kids to school. My job was in walking distance from my house but it took us one hour from home to get the kids to school. I would drop them off, get back on the bus and ride another one hour back to work that was only five minutes away from home. Then after work i would get on that bus, travel for one hour to pick my kids up, get back on the bus for another hour to get home.

So i spent four hours on a bus just to get my kids to this school. There were schools closer to my house but they did not accept the welfare yada yada stuff.

One day coming home from the school, the kids and i got off at a transfer point downtown. While we were waiting for the bus, I heard a rattling noise, metal hitting metal. When i turned around, this homeless guy was breaking into the newspaper stand. He took the money and walked away. Nobody did anything. Rough part of town. I wasn't about to jeopardize the safety of my kids to try to stop this guy over a few quarters. Those years were difficult and kind of scary all the way around.

daddy, where are you?

I just had an interesting question from my husband, who just read my blog. He asked me, "Well, what happened? Didn't your dad, like, come and fix your bike?"

Hmm. So interesting. I had never even thought about it. But, no. I guess he was at work. I don't remember even bringing it to anyone's attention. Probably for the best. No doubt it would have been my fault. You know, clueless and all, i guess" that's what you get". After all, at six years old, i should have known better, right? (so sad)
